Wolfpack Begins Cancun Challenge Thursday

CANCUN – Off to a 5-0 start for the second time in head coach Wes Moore's three years at the helm of the program, the NC State women's basketball team begins play at the 2015 Cancun Challenge this week. NC State will take on Seton Hall Thursday evening before ending tournament play against UAB on Friday.

Both of NC State's games will be played in the ballroom at the Hard Rock Hotel Riveria Maya. The games will be streamed live on YouTube and can also be followed on WKNC 88.1 FM.

WINS THIS WEEK WOULD...

NC STATE - SETON HALL SERIES HISTORY

-The teams have never met at a neutral site.
-NC State won the last meeting, defeating the Pirates in Raleigh on December 28, 2009.

SCOUTING THE PIRATES
-Seton Hall enters this week the owner of a spotless 5-0 record and is receiving 58 votes in the Nov. 23 AP poll to rank tied for 26th in the nation. On Tuesday, the Pirates were ranked 25th in the most recent USA Today poll.
-The Pirates have picked up big wins this season over Rutgers (77-49), Princeton (71-64), and Saint Joseph's (66-54).
-Seton Hall was selected to finish fifth in the Big East this season.
-The Pirates finished last season with a 28-6 record and fell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Rutgers.

NC STATE - UAB SERIES HISTORY
-Friday's game marks just the second meeting between NC State and UAB.
-The Wolfpack won the only meeting between the two teams, downing the Blazers 97-62 in Raleigh on Dec. 4, 2004.

SCOUTING THE BLAZERS
-UAB enters the Cancun Challenge with a 1-3 record. The Blazers will play High Point on Nov. 26 at 4 p.m.
-UAB returns three starters from a team which went 18-13 last season.
-The Blazers were selected to finish eighth in this season's Conference USA preseason poll.

TWO NEAR THE TOP
Two NC State players rank within the top 47 nationally in points scored per game (as of games played Nov. 22). Dominique Wilson (34th) and Jennifer Mathurin (47th) have combined to individually score 10+ points on nine occasions.

AMONG THE UNBEATENS
As of games played November 22, NC State is one of 72 remaining unbeaten squads.

NO EASY BUCKETS
NC State's defense ranks 41st in the nation as of games played Nov. 22. The Wolfpack is only allowing opponents to score 51.8 points per game.

Two of NC State's next three opponents are receiving votes in the November 23 AP poll. Seton Hall is tied for 26th in the country with 58 votes and Nebraska is in 32nd with eight votes.
