Wolfpack Nation to Salute Those Who Serve

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State's annual Military Appreciation Day will take place around Saturday's football game versus Syracuse, which will kick off at 12:30 p.m. This highly-anticipated annual event will honor those who serve in a variety of unique ways. Military Appreciation Day is proudly sponsored by Circle K and Kangaroo Express.
Prior to the game, a group of 15 Wounded Warriors will be escorted to the stadium by the U.S. Veteran Corps and will join in the Walk of Champions at approximately 10 a.m. ROTC Cadets and Midshipmen will line the path for the Wolfpack team and the Wounded Warriors.
Many Wolfpack fans will be participating in the Adopt-a-Serviceperson program, where they purchase tickets for members of the military and their families and host them at pregame tailgates.
NC Pack4Patriots will be on site collecting items for care packages to send to deployed troops. Fans are encourage to donate basic hygiene items, food items and recreation items. A list of suggested items can be found here:
SUGGESTED DONATIONS FOR PACK4PATRIOTS
• Hygiene items: lip balm, deodorants, body wash, sunscreen, dental items, hand sanitizer.
• Food items: powdered drink mixes to add to bottled water, jerky, tuna in pouches, trail mix, dried fruits, nuts, fruit cups, peanut butter, snack crackers.
• Recreation items: footballs, volleyball sets, bocce balls sets, dartboards, board games, handheld video games, DVDs. Cards with messages of support.
The 82nd Airborne Chorus will be in attendance as well. This talented group will perform at 11:30 a.m. in the Fan Zone and will entertain in the Dail Club at Vaughn Towers at noon.
During the National Anthem, 80 ROTC Cadets, Midshipmen and student veterans will unfurl a large flag. In addition to several military officers being recognized during the coin toss, representatives from the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard will carry flags representing their respective branches and will be a part of the team entrance. The Bandit Flight Team crew for the pregame flyover will consist of veterans from the U.S. Air Force, Army and Navy.
Each ROTC Branch and student veterans will have a team each quarter for the Push-Up board.
At halftime, the Power Sound of the South will perform a Military themed show that will include fireworks sponsored by Coca-Cola. Following the performance, an all-veteran jump team will enter the stadium.
