#PackPros Update: Week 11
11/17/2015 4:59:00 PM | Football
Philip Rivers continues to be a #PackPros top performer despite San Diego's 2-7 record. Rivers has thrown 269-390 for 3,033 yards, just 10 yards behind passing leader Tom Brady. He's connected for 19 touchdowns and only tallied seven interceptions with his passing-play offense. Rivers is on the path to reach the 5,392 mark and set a new team record as well as surpass Peyton Manning's single-season record of 5,477 set in 2013. Rivers has already set one team record so far this season passing for 503 yards in Game 6 at Green Bay and with a few similar games could become an all-time passing leader.
Â
Jerricho Cotchery collected a couple of season-highs in the Panthers' eighth win of the season against the Packers. Cotchery caught three of six targets for a season-high 82 yards including a season-long 59-yard reception.
Â
Willie Young also got his hands on the ball, making his first career interception in Chicago's Week 10-win over St. Louis. Young ran the ball back 39 yards, admitting he was "sniffing" out the endzone. The Bears converted the six-year veteran from defensive end to outside linebacker at the beginning of the season with the change-up in the coaching staff and the defensive scheme.Â
Â
Â
The Giants came close to disrupting New England's perfect record in Week 10. Up 23-17 at the beginning of the fourth quarter, Markus Kuhn recovered a sack-cause-fumble. Kuhn's play gave the Giant's offense an opportunity to further the lead had it been able to move the ball down the field, but was unsuccessful in reaching the endzone and the team fell 27-26 to New England.
Â
Dontae Johnson is expected to see more action in the 49ers secondary during the second half of the season due to the large number of injuries plaguing San Francsico's defensive starters. Johnson started in Week 9 against the Falcons, tallying six tackles for a season total of 13 solos. Johnson allowed four receptions while breaking up two passes, helping the 49ers collect its third win of the season.
Â
Steven Hauschka broke his seven-game streak during Week 8 when Dallas succeeded on the field goal block, forcing Hauschka to finish the night 2-3. He is 20-21 overall this season and still sits upwards in the rankings with 95% completion.
Â
INJURY ALERT: Audie Cole exited the Vikings' Week 9 game against St. Louis with a fractured ankle. He has since been placed on injured reserve. This was Cole's first regular-season start at middle linebacker. He was projected to continue in the starting position with former starter Eric Kendricks nursing an injury of his own. Minnesota was able to achieve a 21-18 victory in overtime with Cole tallying two solo tackles prior to being carted off the field.
Â
Mario Williams also took an early exit last Thursday night against the Jets. During the first quarter Williams left the game due to an illness but according to head coach Rex Ryan, he is expected to return for Monday night's match up at New England.
Â
Nate Irving was listed as inactive for the second week in a row due to a knee injury. Irving suffered a torn ACL in November of last season, was placed on the Broncos' injured reserve and underwent surgery. He became a free agent in March when he was signed to the Colts roster.
Â
WAIVER WIRE: Currently T.J. Graham is signed to the New Orleans roster but his position with the Saints was very back-and-forth at one point. Graham was signed and waived three times between Week 7 and 8. Originally signed on Oct. 21 he was waived for the first time on Oct. 24 only to be re-signed on Oct. 28 and waived once again on Oct. 30. Most recently he was signed back to the roster during Week 9 and recorded 25 receiving yards in Week 10 at Washington.
Â
Terrell Manning was re-signed to the Miami Dolphins practice squad during Week 9 after previously being released on Sep. 29.
