
Wolfpack Plays At Tar Heel Invitational This Weekend

The NC State women's golf team will take on another loaded field this weekend at the Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill. Six teams ranked in GolfWeek's top 25 - including four of the top 12 teams - will be at Finley Golf Course vying for the title.
NC State, ranked 39th in the nation according to GolfWeek and 37th according to GolfStat, will field a lineup featuring three freshmen and a sophomore. Freshmen India Clyburn, who tied for medalist honors at the Mercedes-Benz Women's Intercollegiate in September, will be joined by classmates Naomi Ko and Laura Kowohl. This weekend's tournament will be Kowoh's collegiate debut. Sophomore Cecily Overbey and junior Sarah Bae, new to NC State after transferring from High Point, round out the squad.
Head coach Page Marsh has taken her team to this tournament each year dating back to 2001. Last year, the Pack placed third among the 18-team field.
The Wolfpack will be playing without last year's leading scorer and the only senior on the roster, Rachael Taylor. Taylor will be in Texas playing with Team Scotland in the Spirit International Amateur Championship. That tournament, which features the world's best amateur players from 20 nations, runs from Oct. 12-14.
NC State has one fall event left on the schedule following this weekend's play in Chapel Hill. The Pack finish the fall at the Landfall Tradition Oct. 23-25 in Wilmington, N.C.
