Volleyball Hosts UNC-Chapel Hill on Wednesday for “White Out”

Wolfpack to host Tar Heels for “White Out” match
RALEIGH, N.C. – For the first time this season, the NC State women's volleyball team will play a midweek match as UNC-Chapel Hill comes to Raleigh Wednesday evening. First serve is slated for 7:30 p.m. inside Holliday Gym at Broughton High School.
The Wolfpack enters the contest with a 12-4 record on the season and a 1-3 mark in ACC play, while the Tar Heels own a 6-7 record and 3-1 mark in conference action.
Match Promotions
Wednesday's contest will be a "White Out", as NC State will wear white jerseys and fans are encouraged to wear white as well. Free white tank tops with the words "All About That Ace" will be available to fans while supplies last.
The match will also be a Student Wolfpack Club event with the Red Terror Shuttle running from campus to Holliday Gym.
Last Time Out
In its most recent outing of the season, NC State dropped a hard-fought 3-2 decision against the Duke Blue Devils. The Wolfpack led 2-1 in the contest, but the Blue Devils were able to win the fourth and fifth sets to claim the match.
Third Time's A Charm
In 16 matches played this season, the Wolfpack has only lost the third set twice. NC State is outscoring opponents, 394-294, in the frame – the largest differential in any set.
NC State is 12-2 this season when winning the third set with both of those losses coming in five sets against Ole Miss and Duke.
All About That ACE
One of the primary focuses of the NC State women's volleyball team is to serve tough. To this point in the season, the Wolfpack leads the ACC and ranks 10th in the NCAA with 1.80 service aces per set.
Senior Morgan Cormier is listed among the top 20 in the NCAA and second in the conference with 0.49 aces per set. Freshman Blayke Hranicka occupies the seventh-most aces per set in the league at 0.38, which also ranks among the top 100 in the NCAA.
Kearney on the Block
Sophomore middle blocker Kaitlyn Kearney is second in the ACC and 17th in the NCAA with 83 blocks on the season. She also ranks 23rd in the nation and third in the league with 1.41 blocks per set.
NC State as a team has the second-most blocks in the conference with 165.5, which is also good for 15th in the NCAA.
Scouting UNC-Chapel Hill
The UNC-Chapel Hill Tar Heels enter the match with a 6-7 record on the season, highlighted by a 3-1 mark in ACC play. The Tar Heels collected a pair of sweeps last weekend, taking down Duke and Wake Forest in straight sets.
Last season, UNC-CH earned a 3-0 win against NC State in Reynolds Coliseum.
Senior middle hitter Paige Neuenfeldt leads a balanced Tar Heels attack with 2.55 kills per set, while classmates Leigh Andrew and Victoria McPherson have tallied 2.33 and 2.29 kps, respectively. At the setter position, Jordyn Schnabl and Abigail Curry have split time with former handing out 5.96 assists per set and the latter 4.69 aps.
As a team, UNC-CH has a hitting percentage of .223 and opponents have an attacking percentage of .171.
