The women's race features four ranked teams, highlighted by No. 7 Virginia and No. 8 NC State. Rounding out the ranked teams are No. 17 Notre Dame and No. 29 North Carolina. In the regular season, UVa finished slightly ahead of the Wolfpack at the Wisconsin Invitational, while the Wolfpack was victorious over seven ACC squads during the regular season.
In FloTrack's individual rankings, Molly Seidel of Notre Dame ranks third in the nation, while the Pack's Ryen Frazier and Notre Dame's Anna Rohrer check in at 18th and 20th, respectively. Frazier beat both women at the Notre Dame Invitational, while Seidel and Rhorer finished ahead of Frazier at the Wisconsin Invitational.
On the men's side, second-ranked Syracuse leads the men's teams, while No. 7 Virginia, No. 12 NC State and No. 18 Virginia Tech round out the ranked teams. In the regular season, Syracuse rolled to a big win at the Wisconsin Invitational. The Pack holds a 5-2 record against ACC opponents this season.
In the individual rankings, the ACC boasts six in the top 25. Syracuse's Justyn Knight leads the conference at No.6, while Virginia Tech's Thomas Curtin is ranked seventh. Martin Hehir of Syracuse and Shawn Thompson of Duke round out the top-15 rankings at 11th and 15th, respectively. Sam Parsons leads the Wolfpack men and finished fourth at last year's ACC Championships. Transfer Meron Simon could also be a threat in the individual race, after finishing fourth at this year's Notre Dame Invite.
Pack in the Polls:
In the final regular season poll, both Wolfpack teams shot up in the USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll. The women reached their highest point of the season at No. 8, and the men climbed up five spots to No. 12. After each race this season, both teams have made positive moves up the rankings.
Phenomenal Freshmen:
Both the men's and women's teams have relied on freshman for scoring throughout the year. Frazier won the first two races of her collegiate career and has a been a mainstay in FloTrack's individual rankings. The Raleigh, N.C., native has also won two USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week honors this season. Redshirt freshman Rachel Koon scored for NC State in every meet this season, and true freshman Sarah Kanney raced for the Pack at Notre Dame and Wisconsin. Rachel Bartolomeo, a redshirt freshman, will also line up for the Pack at the conference championships. Bartolomeo is coming off back-to-back top-15 performances.
On the men's side, true freshmen Tanis Baldwin and Philip Hall have competed this season. At the Wisconsin Invite, Baldwin was the Pack's fifth scorer, while Hall trailed closely behind. Redshirt freshman Zack Langston has also lined up in each of the Pack's team races this season.
A Red and White History at the ACCs:
The NC State cross country programs have been a force in the ACC ever since winning the first men's championship in 1953, and claiming the first three women's titles beginning in 1978. Overall, the program has won 37 ACC Cross Country Championships and has 23 individual champions -- the most of any school in the conference for both respective stat categories.
PACKing Up:
The men have run as a team exceptionally well throughout the season. At Notre Dame, the Wolfpack had four scorers cross the finish line in the top-15. At Wisconsin, the team crossed the finish line in three groups of two. The Pack will aim to run together once again, as it looks pull a fifth runner into the lead group.
