
Wolfpack Places Fifth At Tar Heel Invitational

FINAL RESULTS
CHAPEL HILL - Freshman India Clyburn tied for seventh among 96 players and three Wolfpack players rated among the top 30 as the NC State women's golf team placed fifth at the Tar Heel Invitational at Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill.
Clyburn (73-72-73--218) led the Wolfpack for the second straight tournament, after shooting 6-under in Tennessee in the team's last outing. Another freshman, Laura Kowohl (73-76-74--223), placed 27th in her first collegiate tournament. Cecily Overbey (73-80-71--224) had the team's best score on Sunday, firing a 1-under par 71. She tied for 29th.
Naomi Ko and Sarah Bae tied for 36th and 52nd, respectively.
"Our team played with great heart," head coach Page Marsh said. "The Pack never gave up."
The Wolfpack (+20), featuring a lineup of three freshmen and missing last year's leading scorer in Rachael Taylor, spent the entire weekend near the top of the standings and finished just four shots out of second place. Duke (+3) won the tournament by 13 shots over Arkansas. Louisville (+18) was third and Michigan State (+19) finished fourth. Host school UNC-Chapel Hill (+24) placed eighth and 2015 ACC champ Virginia (+34) was ninth. Duke's Leona Maguire (-4) was the individual medalist, edging Michigan State's Sarah Burnham by one shot.
