SPENCER’S SCORING
Sophomore guard Miah Spencer is approaching a scoring milestone in her second season at NC State. The Georgia native has scored in double figures 25 times in her 48 career appearances and is sitting at 480 career points. Spencer has upped her scoring average from 8.3 points per game last season to 13.8 points per outing this year. Upon reaching 500 career points, Spencer will be the third active Wolfpacker on the roster to have achieved this mark (Barrett and Brown-Hoskin).
FOUR GOOD LOSSES
If there’s such a thing as a good loss, NC State has four of them. The Pack has dropped contests this season to UNC-CH (RPI 11), Minnesota (18), George Washington (23), and Tulane (40). Only one loss (Villanova - 114) was against a team currently outside of the RPI top 100.
FIRE AWAY
NC State remains a strong three-point shooting team. The Wolfpack averages 6.9 made three-pointers per game and has connected on 104 this season. NC State has hit at least five threes in 13 of 15 games this season.
FAMILIAR FOE
NC State associate head coach Nikki West is familiar with the Clemson Tigers. A native of Seneca, S.C., West (formerly Blassingame) was an All-ACC performer at Clemson from 1996-99. She helped lead the Tigers to four NCAA Tournament appearances while playing in 126 career games. Her 1998-99 squad won a school-record 26 games, advanced to the Sweet 16, and finished the season ranked 10th in the Associated Press poll.
COMING SOON
Following the game against Clemson, three of NC State’s next four games are against ranked opponents. During this stretch, the Pack will take on No. 6 Louisville, Wake Forest, No. 8 UNC-CH, and No. 21 Syracuse.
