Dahl, Zevnik Earn ACC Swimmer of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C.- Sophomores Soren Dahl and Alexia Zevnik of the NC State swimming and diving team were named Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Male and Female Swimmers of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.
Dahl, a Copenhagan, Denmark native, played a primary part in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams setting Casey Aquatic Center pool records when it hosted Minnesota on Jan. 23-24 for a two-day dual meet.
He was also a part of the winning 400 medley relay team this past weekend and assisted in the men’s program sweeping the meet in all relay events. Dahl took first place honors in the 200 free and 100 butterfly with times of 1:36.99 and 47.37, respectively.
Zevnik, a Lasalle, Canada native, also helped her 200 medley and 400 free relay teams to earn new Casey Aquatic Center records and to sweep the two-day meet in relay events. She also played a part in the team upsetting the 11th-ranked Minnesota women’s program.
She won the 100 and 200 back and 400 IM with times of 53.47, 1:56.21 and 2:02.09, respectively. In the 200 back she set a pool record, finishing more than six seconds ahead of teammate Hannah Freyman who finished second.
NC State will compete next when it hosts UNC-Chapel Hill on Jan. 31 in its senior meet inside the Casey Aquatic Center on Jan. 31. Competition is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
