Former NC State Swimming Alum Passes Away

RALEIGH, N.C.- Former NC State swimmer William LeRoy Churn died on January 1, 2015 at Duke University Hospital. During his time at NC State he earned All-America honors in 1953. That same year Churn helped the Wolfpack win the Southern Conference Championship.
After leaving NC State Churn enlisted in the United States Army where he served in the Korean War. After serving in the Army, he had a long and successful career in sales and marketing eventually retiring in the Raleigh area.
"Our hearts and prayers go out to the Churn family as well as the Wolfpack Family. He was a leader for others in every aspect of life and we honor his legacy as a Wolfpacker,” said head coach Braden Holloway.
