FINDLEY'S TAKE
"We need to put 90 minutes together," said NC State head coach Kelly Findley. "We haven't done that as often as we would like. I thought we had great chances to respond, but I'm disappointed that we waited until we dug a deficit before we really started playing the way we want. We have a lot to work on as we get prepared for Louisville, but we're excited for Friday night."
MOMENTS OF THE MATCH
- NC State opened with control of possession, and attempted the match's first handful of shots, but Coastal Carolina landed the first blow. The Chants found the back of the net in the 16th minute on a quickly-played corner kick, which resulted in a volley towards the net, and a poke home to make it 1-0. State clawed for the rest of the half to take a 1-0 deficit into the break.
- A critical Wolfpack letdown lead to a pair of goals to open the second half, both off the foot of Sergio Camargo on similar assists from Bryce Follensbee. By the 49th minute, NC State found itself buried in a 3-0 hole.
- The Pack finally found its rhythm in the 59th minute when Wannemuehler slipped his second goal of the year inside the left post on assists up the left side from Holden Fender and Nick Surkamp. With renewed hope, the Wolfpack poured on a vicious assault over the remaining 32 minutes.
