MOMENTS OF THE MATCH
- A yellow card was shown to Pitt's Stephane Pierre in the 21st minute after a violent takedown of Zach Knudson in the Panther box. NC State's Michael Bajza took the awarded PK, depositing it casually in the bottom right corner of the net for his third scoring strike of the year. State would hold that 1-0 lead for the next 49:22.
- Pitt answered in the 70th minute on a rebound off the post. Darcy Bloemen's shot was denied by the frame, but Corey Werth slipped into position to score the putback. NC State rallied with all three of the remaining shots on goal of regulation, before heading to extra time tied 1-1.
- The Wolfpack found multiple chances in extra time, but didn't have enough for the winning touch. The Pack outshot the Panthers 7-1 over 20 minutes of overtime, including 5-1 in the first overtime period.
FINDLEY'S TAKE
"We're getting better every game," said NC State head coach Kelly Findley. "I thought we were very good tonight with the exception of the first 20 minutes. We need to start stronger, whether home or away, but I expect us to improve each game. Obviously, we're disappointed not to come away with three points, but we'll take the one, and keep pushing on through ACC play."
