Pack Completes First Day at Collegiate Challenge Cup

NASHVILLE – The NC State men’s golf team completed the first day of action at the 2014 DICK’S Sporting Goods Collegiate Challenge Cup on Friday. Following two rounds of play at the Golf Club of Tennessee, the Wolfpack sits in 11th place with a team score of 594 (+26).
David Cooke led the way for the Wolfpack during the first day of play, shooting a two-round score of 143 (+1) to finish Friday in a tie for 16th place. The junior shot a 69 (-2) in the first round and carded a 74 (+3) in the second.
The Wolfpack combined for 21 birdies and two eagles on the par 71, 7,184-yard course. Eagles were recorded by Cooke and Jacob McBride.
McBride (T37th) and Carter Page (T50th) ranked second and third for the Wolfpack following Friday’s two rounds. McBride shot 74-75 to end with a 149 (+7) while Page carded 76-76 to finish the day with a 152 (+10).
Stanhope Johnson (56th) and James Chapman (T57th) rounded out the opening day for the Wolfpack, shooting scores of 155 (+13) and 156 (+14), respectively.
NC State will resume play at the tournament on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. EST. James Chapman will lead things off followed by Johnson (10:11), Page (10:22), McBride (10:33), and Cooke (10:44).
