Powell Named to All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Rising senior Austin Powell of the NC State men’s tennis team was selected to the 2014 All-ACC Academic Team, as announced Thursday morning by the conference office.
A native of Muscle Shoals, Ala., Powell has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team in each of his three seasons as a member of the Wolfpack. Powell is majoring in business administration.
Powell led the squad throughout the 2013-14 campaign with 25 victories in singles, including a team-best six victories against ranked opponents. Named to the 2014 second-team All-ACC team earlier in the year, Powell was listed No. 64 in the final ITA singles rankings of the year. He also ended the season ranked eighth all-time in singles victories in program history with 71.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average or better for the previous semester and maintained at least a 3.0 cumulative average during his academic career.
