GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State's Joelle Kissell was named to the All-ACC Academic Women's Tennis Team as announced today by ACC Commissioner John Swofford.
A communications major from Hostetter, Pa., Kissell becomes the first player in program history to make the All-ACC Academic team a total of three times, doing it over a span of three consecutive seasons (2012, 2013, 2014).
Earlier this year, Kissell wrapped up her NC State career as the winningest player in program history. She holds the all-time school record for most dual singles wins over a career with 62 and ranks fourth all-time with 45 dual doubles victories. She carries the top career mark for best dual singles winning percentage (.667) and was selected as the ITA Carolina Region's recipient of the Most Improved Senior Award.
She was recognized this year as a NC State Top Ten Scholar Athlete for holding one of the 10 highest GPA's among Wolfpack student-athletes. She was also part of an NC State women's tennis team that received a Public Recognition Award from the NCAA for earning high scores in the most recent Academic Progress Rate (APR) compilation.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during their academic career.
