FOXFIRE VILLAGE, N.C. – Future NC State men’s golfer Will Blalock ended his high school career in impressive fashion earlier this month, earning the individual state title and helping his Forestview High School team to its third consecutive North Carolina High School Athletic Association 3A championship.
Blalock broke a first-place tie on the individual leaderboard with an impressive eagle on the 18th hole, paving the way for his team to defeat the nearest competitor by 11 strokes.

Ranked No. 11 on GolfWeek’s November 2013 list of the top 100 players from the class of 2014, Blalock was added to the Wolfpack men’s golf program along with DK Kim (Waxhaw, N.C.) and Carter Simon (Ontario, Canada).
Upon Blalock’s signing with the Pack, NC State head men’s golf coach Richard Sykes had this to say about the Gastonia, N.C., native:
“Will is obviously a top-flight player. He won the Junior North & South Championship this summer (2013) and also the (Bobby) Chapman, which is an invitational for the best players on this side of the country. Obviously, he is a very special talent.”
