NC State Enters Top 25 of ITA Rankings

RALEIGH, N.C. – In the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) computer generated rankings of the 2014 season released Tuesday afternoon, the NC State men’s tennis team is listed at a season-best No. 24 in the country.

The Wolfpack also boasts three players listed in the singles rankings, as Austin Powell (No. 45), Robbie Mudge (No. 91) and Thomas Weigel (No. 122) appear in the polls.

In doubles, the tandem of Nick Horton and Sean Weber is listed No. 32, while the pair of Ian Dempster and Mudge makes its season debut in the polls with a No. 42 ranking. On the season, Dempster and Mudge own a perfect 12-0 ledger, including a 10-0 mark in the spring campaign.

The Wolfpack will return to the courts to host Appalachian St. and Winthrop in a doubleheader on Friday, March 7. The match against the Mountaineers will begin at 12 p.m., while the match against the Eagles is set for a 5 p.m. first serve.
