Wolfpack Cruises Past Phoenix, 84-51

RALEIGH - Led by 16 points from Miah Spencer, the NC State women's basketball team (6-3) defeated the Elon Phoenix by a final score of 84-51 Sunday afternoon inside Reynolds Coliseum.
The 33-point win marked NC State's second such margin of victory this season, as the Pack defeated Texas Tech by a final score of 75-42 on Nov. 29 in the Bahamas.
Spencer led the Pack with a game-high 16 points, shooting 7-11 from the field. Dominique Wilson (13 points) and Krystal Barrett (11 points) joined Spencer in double figures. In addition to her strong offensive outing, Barrett also recorded a career-high nine rebounds (seven on the offensive glass.)
As a team, NC State shot 30-64 (.469) from the field and 16-21 (.762) from the free throw line. Elon shot 20-55 (.364) from the field and 4-8 (.500) from the free throw line.
The game was a back-and-forth affair at the start, with NC State holding a narrow 17-16 lead with 9:27 remaining in the first half. The Pack would kick things into high gear at this point, ripping off a 17-0 run over the next 8:12 to take a commanding 34-16 lead. State would carry a 16-point advantage (38-22) into the halftime break.
The Pack opened the second half with a 6-0 run and would stretch its lead to as many as 35 points (84-49) in the second half before ultimately ending the contest in front by an 84-51 margin.
The Wolfpack will return to action with it hosts Mount St. Mary's University on Dec. 13 inside Reynolds Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
