Coetzer Concludes Competition at World Swimming Championships

DOHA, QATAR- NC State swimming and diving’s Stephen Coetzer represented South Africa as a member of its national team at the 2014 Short Course World Championships Dec. 3-7 in Doha, Qatar.
A dual citizen between South Africa and the United States, he secured his spot on the national team after capturing titles in the 100 and 200 backstroke events at the South African Short Course National Championships in August.
Coetzer competed in the 100 back on day one of the championships, swimming a time of 53.88 to finish 38th in the overall standings.
He concluded his showing at the championships Saturday morning with a 30th place finish in the 200 back, swimming a time of 1:58.97.
In conclusion of the World Swimming Championships Coetzer will return to the United States to continue preparation for the 2015 portion of the NC State swimming and diving team’s schedule.
