RALEIGH, N.C.- NC State women’s tennis head coach Simon Earnshaw released the spring portion of its 2014-15 schedule on Wednesday. The schedule features nine matches and two doubleheaders at home along with 11 matches on the road, including trips to Flagstaff, Ariz., and Las Vegas, Nev.
“I'm looking forward to getting started this spring and putting all of the preparation and improvements we’ve made this fall into action,” Earnshaw said. “The ACC schedule continues to get stronger and with Miami, Notre Dame and Syracuse matches all on the road we'll certainly put in some miles. With that in mind we have a strong home slate early on, highlighted by matches against a rising LSU team and Georgia State coming off its best year in program history.
“I expect us to be extremely competitive and to fight every step of the way this spring; every match provides opportunity and we’re actively working every day to maximize that.”
The squad will compete in its first six matches of the season at home. It will open the season Jan. 31 with a doubleheader against Western Carolina and East Carolina, followed by three more nonconference matches against Winthrop, Georgia State and LSU.
On Feb. 19, the team is slated to open its ACC portion of the season against UNC-Chapel Hill at home before traveling to William and Mary Feb. 21 for its first road match of the spring.
The Wolfpack then returns home for its second doubleheader of the season, facing ACC foe Louisville and James Madison on Feb. 27, followed by conference opponent Georgia Tech on March 1.
NC State will next have a three-match road stretch as it travels to VCU on March 6, followed by two matches on the west coast against Northern Arizona on March 10 and an ACC match against Duke on March 13 in Las Vegas, Nev.
The Pack hosts Charlotte March 18 to close out its nonconference portion of the season before its three-match road stretch against Miami, Florida State and Notre Dame.
The squad will then return to Raleigh for its last three home matches against Clemson on March 29, Boston College on April 3 and Pittsburgh on April 5.
NC State will close out its regular season with a four-match road swing facing Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Syracuse and Virginia.
The ACC Championship will be held at the Cary Tennis Center in Cary, N.C., April 23-26.
