Pack Track and Field Opens Season At UNCG Six-Way

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The NC State track and field team competed in its first indoor track meet of the season Monday afternoon at the UNCG 6-Way meet at the JLD Fast Track in Winston Salem, N.C.
NC State competed against UNC-Greensboro (host), NC A&T, NC Central, Savannah State and USC Upstate. The Wolfpack had a strong showing, earning nine first-place and five second-place finishes at the meet.
Meet Highlights:
60m:
Paisley Simmons took first place honors in the women's 60m dash with a time of 7.56. Behind her, a trio of Wolfpack women finished in the top 10, as J'Den Williams finished sixth with a time of 7.74, Imari McLean finished seventh with a time of 7.82 and Alexis Perry finished eighth with a time of 7.83.
On the men's side Jonathan Addison finished first in the 60m dash with a time of 6.87- just 0.01 of a second from tying his indoor collegiate best in the 60m.
800m:
Three NC State runners finished at the top of the standings in the men's 800m as Jon Knight took the first-place title with a time of 1:54.69, and Vibushan Sivakumaran and Clay Jones rounded out the top three with times of 1:56.77 and 1:58.58.
In the women's 800m, Erin Foshee ran to a second-place finish with a time of 2:19.37.
1 Mile:
The Pack also had a strong showing in the one-mile run. Esther Fisher finished in first with a time of 5:10.90, while Lauren Velasco finished second with a pace of 5:12.83 and Alyssa Rudaswky finished third after clocking a time of 5:16.16.
In the men's one-mile run, John Harwell earned another first-place finish for the Wolfpack after running a time of 4:22.17.
Weight Throw:
Nicole Chavis led all throwers with a 20.26m toss in the women's weight throw, while SeQuoia Watkins finished behind her in second place with a throw of 18.31 and Alyssa Dunn placed third with a throw of 16.39m.
In the men's weight throw, Josh Davis and David Rocker took first and second place for the Wolfpack with throws of 17.01m and 16.33m.
High Jump:
Lacey Shuman tied her collegiate, earning first place honors with a 1.80m jump in the women's high jump.
Up Next:
NC State will return to action Wednesday as Jule Rich and Grant Rivers travel to Lynchburg, Va. to compete at the Liberty Invitational Dec. 3-4.
