11/6/2014 12:00:00 AM | Women's Tennis
RALEIGH, N.C.- The NC State women’s tennis team will compete in its last tournament of the 2014 fall season when it heads to Chapel Hill Nov. 7-9 for the Kitty Harrison Invitational, hosted by UNC.
Earnshaw’s Input
“The girls have been showing steady improvement, particularly recently, so we are really ready to play this weekend and close out the fall schedule with a strong finish. Much like the first event at Georgia Tech this semester we are going to face teams that we will see this spring, therefore this will be an excellent learning opportunity as well as a chance to get a jump up for the regular season.
“I expect us to play well based on how practice has been tracking. It's just a case of us being more comfortable out there in the important moments, continuing to play to our strengths in those moments and this will improve our conversion rate.”- Simon Earnshaw, head coach
Last Time Out
The team played at the Jack Kramer Club Invitational on Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in Rolling Hills, Calif. Junior Joanna Nalborska advanced to the quarterfinals in the singles draw, and on her way she defeated Texas A&M’s Saska Gavrilovska, the No. 2 seeded player in the tournament and the No. 34 ranked player in the 2014 Division I Preseason Women's Singles Rankings.
Due to rain the second and third days, play was limited, but the squad closed out the tournament with four wins of five matches played on the final day.
