Wolfpack Holds off Panthers, Improves to 4-0

RALEIGH - The NC State women's basketball team (4-0) picked up its fourth straight win on Friday night, defeating the visiting High Point Panthers by a final score of 66-62. The win marked the fourth consecutive season during which the Wolfpack Women have started a campaign with a perfect 4-0 record.
Sophomore Miah Spencer led the Pack with 14 points on 3-12 shooting while going 7-8 from the free throw line. Dominique Wilson (12 points), Krystal Barrett (10), and Carlee Schuhmacher (10) all joined Spencer in double digit scoring. Friday's game marked the fourth straight game in which four Wolfpackers have scored 10+ points.
As a team, NC State shot 23-53 (43.4 percent), while High Point (1-2) shot 25-52 (48.1 percent). The Wolfpack recorded 11 steals and forced 21 turnovers and shot 15-19 (78.9 percent) from the free-throw line.

Spencer got things started for NC State in the first 45 seconds of the contest as she sank two free throws. The Pack gradually increased its lead in the first eight minutes of the first half, attaining a 17-12 lead with 12:23 remaining in the first stanza.
High Point took its first lead of the game with 7:08 remaining in the first half when Kaylah Keys sank a three pointer, but the Pack quickly took the lead again minutes later when Krystal Barrett made two free throws.
NC State managed to capitalize on its regained lead the remainder of the first 20 minutes by holding a 39-32 lead going into the locker room.
Despite the Panthers shortening their deficit to three points on multiple occasions, the Wolfpack continued to hold its lead through the second half to defeat the 2014 Big South regular season champions by a four-point margin.
The Pack will return to action when it travels to Tulane on Nov. 24 for the first of three games on the road. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. ET.
