NC State Volleyball Falls at Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. – Despite having four players record double-digit kills, the NC State women’s volleyball team was defeated by the Clemson Tigers, 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 25-22), Sunday afternoon inside Jervey Gym.
The Wolfpack falls to 14-12 on the season and 3-11 in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play, while the Tigers improve to 18-11 and 6-9 in league action.
Match Rewind
- Leading 16-15 in the opening set, Clemson went on a 7-1 run to extend its lead to 23-16. NC State kept fighting, but ultimately dropped the frame, 25-19. Redshirt sophomore Morgan Cormier and freshman Perry Ramsey led the Wolfpack in the first set with four kills apiece.
- State closed out the second set on a 5-3 run to secure the 25-23 set win. With the score tied at 20, freshman Kaitlyn Kearney swatted a kill and senior Alesha Wilson teamed up with classmate Dariyan Hopper and sophomore Maggie Speaks for consecutive block assists.
- The Wolfpack hit .212 in the frame and limited Clemson to an attacking percentage of .179.
- NC State started the third set on a 3-0 run, but the Tigers countered with five unanswered to take a 5-3 lead. A seesaw battle ensued down the stretch with Clemson holding on for a 25-22 set win.
- Clemson won the third set, 25-20, to earn the 3-1 match victory. The Tigers were very effective on offense, recording a .382 hitting percentage in the frame.
Key Performers
- Ramsey headlined a balanced offensive attack for the Wolfpack with 15 kills to go along with a .355 hitting percentage. Kearney tallied 14 kills, while Hopper and Cormier also reached double figures with 13 each.
- At the setter position, sophomore Maggie Speaks dished out 53 assists and also charted five blocks, five digs and four kills.
- Sophomore Maddie Brown led the team defensively with 16 digs, while classmate Rachel Eppley and freshman Emily Harris collected 15 and 12, respectively.

The Wolfpack will return to action on Friday, Nov. 21 when it travels to Pittsburgh, Pa., for a matchup with the Pitt Panthers. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
