Mumma, Hren Garner ACC Weekly Awards

RALEIGH, N.C. – Redshirt-junior Rachel Mumma and sophomore Derek Hren of the NC State swimming & diving team garnered ACC weekly awards for their standout performances at the All-North Carolina Invitational, as announced by the ACC office Tuesday afternoon.
Hren earned his first ACC Male Swimmer of the Week accolade, as he enjoyed a tremendous weekend to open the 2014-15 season. Hren recorded a NCAA “B” cut and a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke, while recording second-place performances in the 200 IM and the 200 breast. Hren’s time of 55.23 in the 100 breast ranks as the fifth fastest in the country, while his time in the 200 IM ranks 12th in the country and second-fastest in the ACC behind teammate Anton Ipsen. In addition, Hren was part of the 200 and 400-medley relay team that finished first overall.
After redshirting the 2013-14 season, Mumma returned to diving competition in outstanding fashion to earn ACC Female Diver of the Week honors. Mumma finished first overall in the one and three-meter competition and recorded two NCAA Zone scores. In the three-meter competition, she set a new personal-best with a score of 323.93, while also capturing the one-meter competition with a score of 286.95.
Up next, the Wolfpack will welcome the 2013 and 2014 women's NCAA Champion Georgia Bulldogs, as well as the top five Bulldogs men's squad to the Willis R. Casey Aquatic Center. The meet will be held Saturday, Oct.18 beginning at 11 a.m. In addition, part of the NC State women's squad will be traveling to compete in the Dallas Morning Classic hosted by SMU on Oct. 17 and 18.
