NC State (7-6-4, 1-4-3 ACC) fell 2-0 to No. 19 Clemson (10-6-1, 5-2-1) on Friday night at Historic Riggs Field.
FINDLEY'S TAKE
"We're pleased we get to play another game on Wednesday, but we're not satisftied with the week," said NC State head coach Kelly Findley. "I know our guys will be motivated. They'll prepare well, and look forward to our opponent.
"Clemson is a hard-working blue-collar team, and they won a lot of first and second balls tonight. That's something our team needs to improve."
MOMENTS OF THE MATCH
- Clemson struck paydirt in the 21st minute, when an intercepted pass set up a cross to 20, and a scoring strike to the right side. NC State would not recover from that deficit, trailing 1-0 at the half.
- The Tigers found the back of the net three minutes into the second half, setting the final margin at 2-0.
- An anxious NC State squad waited an extra 13 minutes as No. 3 Syracuse fought off a talented Boston College squad the Pack tied just three weeks ago, 2-1 in double overtime. With the Orange win, the Wolfpack sealed the No. 10 seed in the ACC Tournament, to begin Wednesday at 7 PM against the No. 7 seed.
