RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State softball team completed its fall schedule over the weekend, by collecting three wins in four home games played at Dail Stadium. The Wolfpack split a doubleheader with Elon on Friday and won both games of its twin bill with Pitt CC on Saturday.
State won game one against Elon, 11-2, but had one tough inning in the second game as the Phoenix scored eight runs in the third inning to win it, 8-5. Saturday against Pitt CC, the Pack earned a 3-1 win in the first game of the day and won the second game, 8-1.
NC State concludes its 2014 fall schedule with seven wins and only one loss.
Rychcik’s Review
“We weren’t as sharp this weekend as we were last weekend,” said head coach Shawn Rychcik. “Overall, I thought we had a few too many walks from our pitching staff. You take away one bad inning against Elon and we would have been 8-0.
“It was a decent fall and I like where our progress is. I like what our lineup is going to look like, so there are some real good things and some things we need to get better at and we have a few more weeks here in the fall to do that and then again in the spring.”
