“We’re very excited about another very challenging schedule for the spring,” Choboy said. “We believe our strength of schedule has helped the overall improvement of the program and this schedule will test our guys as we’re set to go against some of the best teams in the country.”
The squad will start the spring season with a string of home matches in January, facing Northwestern on Jan. 16 followed with a double-header against Michigan State and NC Central on Jan. 18.
For the fifth straight season, the Wolfpack will compete in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend with the Pack scheduled to play Jan. 23-25 in Berkeley, Cal. The Wolfpack will play Mississippi State in the first round with the winner of that match to face the winner of the California and Harvard match for the chance to qualify for the prestigious ITA Team Indoor Championships in Chicago, Ill., set for Feb. 13-15.
The ITA Kick-Off will start a string of at least 11 straight matches on the road. On Jan. 30, the squad will play in a double-header against Jackson State and Middle Tennessee St. on MTSU’s home turf before they square off against South Carolina on Feb. 8. Road play will continue the rest of February, facing Drake and Wisconsin on Feb. 14-15 and closing out the month with another doubles header against VCU and Howard on Feb. 27.
Its first two matches in March will end the State’s road stretch, as the team plays William & Mary on March 1 and opens ACC competition against UNC-Chapel Hill on March 6 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The Wolfpack will return home to host 2013 NCAA Champion UVa on March 7. In addition, the Pack will also host ACC newcomer Louisville (March 13), Virginia Tech (March 22), Wake Forest (March 28) and Florida State (April 10). The squad’s senior class will play their final home match against Miami on April 12 and will be honored prior to the start of the match.
The squad will make the short trip to Duke on March 20, while also facing Clemson (April 3) and Georgia Tech (April 5) on the road.
The Pack will conclude regular season play with a road trip to Boston College (April 16) and Notre Dame (April 18).
The ACC Championship will be held April 23-26 at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C., for the seventh consecutive season.
The NCAA Regionals will be held at 16 campus sites from May 8-10, while the 2015 NCAA Team Championships will be hosted by Baylor in Waco, Texas, from May 14-19.
The 2015 NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships will also be held in Waco, Texas, from May 20-25.
Last season, the Wolfpack earned its third consecutive bid into NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. The Pack advanced to the second round for the second straight year after defeating Oregon, 4-2, and falling to Georgia, 4-1.
The Wolfpack will conclude its fall slate with the duo of Ian Dempster and Robbie Mudge earning an automatic bid into the 2014 USTA/ITA National Indoors Intercollegiate Championships to be played Nov. 6-9 at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
RALEIGH, N.C.- The NC State men’s tennis team will host nine dual matches during a challenging 2015 slate, as announced Thursday by head coach Jon Choboy. Overall, the Wolfpack will face at least 13 teams that earned a bid into the 2014 NCAA Championships.
