NC State Primed for USTA/ITA Carolina Regionals

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men’s tennis team is set to begin play at the 2014 USTA/ITA Carolina Regionals, beginning Thursday morning at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. The Wolfpack will have eight representatives in the singles field of 128 and four doubles teams in the field of 64.
Choboy’s Chat

“We’re looking forward to playing in another big event on our fall schedule, as we get ready to start play at Regionals,” said head coach Jon Choboy. “The guys have been working hard since we finished play at ITA All-Americans.
“It looks like the weather should be good for this weekend and we’re looking forward to having most of our guys there together.”
Previewing the Tournament

The Wolfpack will co-host the event, along with Duke. The tournament will feature players from the states of North Carolina and South Carolina.
What’s at Stake?

The singles and doubles regional champions will earn an automatic bid to play in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, Nov. 6-9, at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
Last year at ITA Carolina Regionals

The Pack enjoyed tremendous success at ITA Regionals a season ago, as Robbie Mudge and Thomas Weigel each advanced to the quarterfinals in singles.
In the doubles draw, the duo of Mudge and former Wolfpacker Sean Weber advanced to the final before falling to UNC-Wilmington’s pair of Rafael Aita and Sam Williams.
Fan Information
Admission for the event is free to the public. The first and second rounds of singles is scheduled to be played Thursday, beginning at 9 a.m. Doubles matches are slated to get underway Friday at 9 a.m.
