Redshirts Have Strong Showing at App State Open

RALEIGH, N.C. - While the NC State wrestling team was in home action in Reynolds Coliseum this weekend, the Pack sent its redshirting wrestlers to compete in the Appalachian State Open on Saturday.
Of the nine NC State participants, four placed in the top four in their weight classes.
Senior Joe DeAngelo placed third at 125 pounds, his brother freshman Jake DeAngelo was third at 141 pounds, and sophomore Mike Kosoy finished third at 285 pounds. Freshman Beau Donahue was the fourth Pack wrestler to place, as he was fourth at 141 pounds.
Also competing for the Pack, freshman Randy Shine went 3-2 at 149 pounds, freshman Chad Pyke went 2-2 at 157 pounds, freshman Rodney Shepard went 0-2 at 157 pounds, freshman Mikey Amorando went 1-2 at 165 pounds, and redshirt-freshman Lee Davis went 2-2 at 184 pounds.

Flowrestling.org recently came out with its Division I non-starter rankings. The Pack's Joe DeAngelo is ranked fourth nationally at 125 pounds. Pyke and Kosoy earned honorable mention honors at their weight classes.
