RALEIGH, N.C. – Following a 62-54 win at Atlantic Coast Conference opponent Wake Forest Sunday afternoon, the NC State women’s basketball team (15-2, 2-1 ACC) improved its ranking by two places from No. 23 to No. 21 in the latest USA Today top-25 poll released Tuesday afternoon.
State received 107 votes in this week’s poll, 41 more than it received one week ago.
This news comes one day after the Pack remained No. 20 in the Jan. 13 edition of the Associated Press top-25 poll.
Off to its best start since the 1999-00 team began the year 15-2, State has seen great success under the leadership of new head coach Wes Moore and his staff. The Wolfpack has defeated two top-20 teams (LSU and Syracuse), has won nine of its last 10 games, and is off to a 2-1 start in league play for the first time since 2007.
NC State is next in action on Thursday at home against No. 17/18 Florida State. The Wolfpack and Seminoles will tip off from Reynolds Coliseum beginning at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3 with James Alverson and Wolfpack legend Chasity Melvin calling the action.
