2013 ITA Preseason Singles Rankings
RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State senior Joelle Kissell is ranked 45th in the country in singles, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) 2013 preseason poll released Friday.
The Hostetter, Pa., native, who finished 2013 with a total of 49 career spring singles wins - tied for third most in program history - is the 10th highest ranked player among those in the Atlantic Coast Conference. She is just 11 singles wins away from breaking Jenny Sell's record of 59.
Kissell finished the 2013 campaign with a 14-6 singles record, playing at the No. 1 spot in the lineup in every match during the spring. She became just the second player in program history to appear in two NCAA Singles Championships while also becoming just the third player in program history to be named All-ACC on two occasions. Moreover, she was only the second player ever to do it in back-to-back seasons.
Kissell enters her senior season with a 72-35 record in singles play and a 48-38 record in doubles matches.
The Wolfpack will open its fall season Sept. 20-22 at the University of Georgia Invitational in Athens, Ga.
