RALEIGH, N.C. - When NC State holds its spring commencement on Saturday at PNC Arena, three diplomas will go unclaimed - at least until the Wolfpack softball team returns from the ACC Championship weekend in Tallahassee, Fla.
Seniors Caitlin Dent, Katie Mansilla and Bethaney Wells are all senior members of the second-seeded Wolfpack (30-18-1 overall, 13-7 ACC), which will face Virginia on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the ACC's regional sports networks and ESPN3.
The winners of the four quarterfinal games will advance to Friday's semifinals. The championship game is slated for 6 p.m. Saturday at Florida State's JoAnne Graf Field.
"I wouldn't want to be any other place than with my teammates," said Dent. "This has been a great, exciting year and we would all love to cap it off by winning the championship."
Dent will earn a degree in sports management, Mansilla a degree in human biology and Wells a degree in nutrition science.
The Wolfpack has never faced Virginia in the ACC tournament and is 8-12 in its previous nine trips to the championship event.
