NEW LONDON, N.C. - No. 36 NC State is in eighth place after Friday's opening round of the 2013 ACC Men's Golf Championship at Old North State Club.
The Wolfpack shot a team total of 6-over 294 after the first of three rounds this weekend.
Junior All-American Albin Choi led NC State with an even-par 72. The Ben Hogan Award semifinalist is tied for 19th.
Junior Logan Harrell is one shot behind Choi at 1-over 73 and is tied for 24th.
Sophomore Bill Herring finished at 2-over 74 and is tied for 29th, while freshman Carter Page finished tied for 36th after a 75.
Senior Mitch Sutton shot a 6-over 78 and is tied for 50th.
Florida State leads at 17-under 271, 11 shots in front of Virginia Tech and Duke, who each shot a 6-under 282. The Seminoles' Daniel Berger fired a 7-under 65 to pace the individual competition.
The Wolfpack will play with North Carolina and Clemson on Saturday. The first tee time begins at 9:10 a.m.
