Second Round Results
DADE CITY, FLA. - NC State leads the USF Invitational by three shots after Monday's second round at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club. Junior All-American Albin Choi owns the individual lead at 8-under.
All five NC State golfers fired under-par rounds on Monday to finish with a second-round team score of 8-under 280, its best 18-hole score of the school year.
The Wolfpack sits at 9-under 567 after 36 holes. South Carolina is three shots back in second, while Florida State is third at +3 (579).
Through seven holes it appeared Choi was going to shoot only his second non-counting round with the Pack, and first since his freshman year in 2010-11. However, after four early bogeys, he birdied seven of the next 10 holes, including four in a row to finish at 4-under 68 for the second-straight day.
He leads the field at 8-under 136. Florida State's Daniel Berger is second at -6 (138), followed by a group of three at -4 (140), including NC State's Logan Harrell, South Carolina’s Dykes Harbin and Kentucky’s Stephen Powers.
Harrell backed up Sunday's 69 with a 1-under 71 on Monday. He eagled the par-5 9th, and added three birdies to his card today.
Mitch Sutton fired a 1-under 71 on Monday, moving up eight spots to tie for 14th at 1-over 145 for the tournament. He had five birdies today, three coming on par-5s.
Freshman Carter Page fired a 2-under 70, his best round at the college level, to pull into a tie for 18th at 2-over 146. He recorded four red circles on his score card.
Redshirt sophomore James Chapman shot a 1-under 71 today and is tied for 48th at 7-over 151 for the event. Chapman matched Choi with four-consecutive birdies and had a total of six for his round.
NC State will tee off in the final group with South Carolina and Florida State between 9:40-10:20 a.m.
