
Watkins' Performances Highlight Meet at BYU

PROVO, Utah - Freshman Brittni Watkins recorded the highest scores of the night for NC State on vault and floor exercise, as the Wolfpack finished with a final team score of 194.675 on Friday at Brigham Young University. The Cougars ended with a 195.500, while the Utah Utes turned in a score of 197.125.
The Wolfpack got off to a slow start at the meet, struggling on bars in the first event of the night. State finished with a team score of 47.900 in the event. Senior Rachel Fincham posted a 9.750, while Watkins finished closely behind with a 9.725. Freshman Michaela Woodford also competed in the event, notching a 9.675.
State rebounded with a strong showing on beam, finishing with a team score of 48.850. Fincham, along with junior Diahanna Ham, posted the top-two scores for the Pack with 9.8s. Woodford recorded the next best score with a 9.775, while junior Kristen Harabedian tallied a 9.750. Junior Stephanie Ouellette had the Wolfpack's final score counted on the apparatus with a 9.725.
Watkins headlined the group on floor exercise with a 9.850. Sophomore Lane Jarred and Woodford scored 9.8s, while Ouellette tallied a 9.775. Ham and Harabedian recorded 9.75s to round out the scoring for the Pack in the event. State finished with a team score of 48.975, its highest team score of the night.
The Wolfpack closed out the night on vault, ending with a team score of 48.950. Ouellette and Watkins paced the group with scores of 9.85. Ham, Woodford and senior Morgan Johnson each scored 9.75s.
Woodford finished third in the all-around with a score of 39.000, while Ouellette ended with a 38.825 and Ham scored a 38.400.
NC State will return to action at home on Sunday, Mar. 10, when it hosts William & Mary at 4:30 p.m.
