Markeisha Gatling Named ACC Player of the Week

Gatling pulled down eight rebounds in addition to her 25 points in NC State's win over No. 12 LSU on Dec. 20.

RALEIGH, N.C. – Following an incredible 25-point performance during which she shot 11-13 from the field in an 89-79 win over No. 12 LSU, NC State women’s basketball senior center Markeisha Gatling has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Player of the Week.

The honor is the first such recognition of Gatling’s career. Also on Monday, she was named the College Sports Madness ACC Player of the Week.

Shooting 81-133 (71.7 percent) from the field this season, Gatling has made 32 of her last 38 field-goal attempts and currently ranks No. 1 in the entire NCAA as of the most recent official statistics release. As a team, NC State’s shooting percentage of 48.3 percent ranks seventh in the entire country.
