Wolfpack Closes Out Play at Tennessee Fall Invite

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The NC State women's tennis team closed out play at the Tennessee Fall Invite on Sunday, winning a pair of matches at the Goodfriend Tennis Center. Wolfpack senior Christy Sipes was victorious in her singles match, while the pair of Elisha Hande and Natalia Janowicz earned a win in doubles action.
Sipes defeated Grainne O'Neil of Ohio State, 6-3, 7-5 to earn her first victory of the tournament. Hande and Janowicz, playing together for the first time all weekend, defeated Stephanie Fox and Kirsten Lewis of Kentucky by the score of 8-4.
Liza Fieldsend, who won her singles match on Friday, fell to Sandy Niehaus of Ohio State, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, while the doubles team of Fieldsend and Nicole Martinez narrowly lost to Edmee Morin-Kougoucheff and Kelsey Dieters of Kentucky, 8-6.
The Wolfpack will play next at the College of Charleston Invitational, set for Nov. 1-3.
