Hande and Martinez Win First Round Match

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The NC State doubles pair of Elisha Hande and Nicole Martinez won their opening round match in dominating fashion on Thursday, blanking the duo of Karolina Chernava and Nell Gaigher from Campbell University, 8-0 in the first round of the ITA Carolina Regionals at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
With the win, Hande and Martinez advance to the Round of 32 where they will take on Katie Fosnacht and Natalie Looney of South Carolina tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.
The Wolfpack duo of Joelle Kissell and Rachael James-Baker, who received a first-round bye on Thursday, will take the court tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. against UNC's team of Ashley Dai and Tessa Lyons.
Hande, Martinez, Kissell and James-Baker will also play in the main draw of singles, which begins tomorrow as well.
