Pulgar, Powell Earn All-ACC Academic Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State senior Jaime Pulgar, for the second consecutive season, earned a spot on the All-ACC Academic Men's Tennis Team, ACC Commissioner John Swofford announced.
Pulgar, a native of Madrid, Spain, who graduated with a degree in business administration in May, was joined on the 22-player team by freshman Austin Powell of Muscle Shoals, Ala.
Pulgar finished his senior season with a 20-6 record and qualified for the individual draw of the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga., where he lost in the opening round. Pulgar finished his career tied for the fifth most singles wins (75) in school history and had the fourth most doubles wins (61) in school history.
Powell posted a 16-7 record for the Wolfpack in his inaugural season, the third most singles victories on the team behind Pulgar and fellow freshman Robbie Mudge.
The Wolfpack qualified for the NCAA Championships for the fifth time in school history, losing in the first round to Washington for a final record of 20-10. Head coach Jon Choboy's team finished No. 39 in the final Campbell's ITA team rankings.
Georgia Tech senior Kevin King was named the ACC's Men’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade pointaverage for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his academic career.
