COLUMBUS, OHIO - No. 24 NC State women's golf hits the links for the 2012 NCAA Central Regional on Thursday, May 10.
The 54-hole tournament runs through Saturday, May 12 at Ohio State University Golf Club's par 72, 6,264 yard Scarlet Course.
The Wolfpack joins Oregon and Virginia in the first round with an 8 a.m. tee time. One golfer from each team will tee off in five-consecutive groups, with the final group starting at 8:44 a.m.
In the second round, the Pack once again plays with Oregon and Virginia, teeing off of hole no. 10 from 12:20 p.m. to 1:04 p.m. Teams will be regrouped after 36 holes according to score for Saturday's final round.
State will need to finish as one of the top eight teams at the regional to advance to its first-ever NCAA Championship, held May 22-25 at the Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn. The top two individuals, not on an advancing team, will also earn berths to the NCAA Championship.
This year marks the 10th time in the last 11 years that the Pack has earned a regional bid, but the 2012 squad's eight-seed represents the best in program history.
The Wolfpack's best finish at a regional came in 2008 with a tie for 10th. Lauren Doughtie's tie for fifth in 2008 marks the best individual finish in school history. State's 899 in 2007 stands as the best team score.
