RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State men’s tennis senior Jaime Pulgar has been selected as an at-large participant in the individual competition of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships, the NCAA has announced.
The lefthander from Madrid, Spain, was selected for the 64-player field based on his 20-5 record this spring as the Wolfpack’s top singles player. This is the first appearance in the individual draw for the three-time All-ACC selection, who is ranked No. 33 in the most recent Campbell’s ITA men’s tennis rankings.
Pulgar ranks in the top five for career singles' and doubles' victories in his four seasons with the Wolfpack.
The individual singles and doubles competition will begin after the conclusion of the team championship on May 22 and will run from May 23-28.
First, however, Pulgar will join his teammates in the team portion of the championships. The No. 39 Wolfpack (20-9) will face Washington next Friday, May 11, at 2 p.m. (EDT) at Pepperdine’s Ralphs Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif.
