RALEIGH, N.C. - Former NC State swimmer Elizabeth Ann Emery passed away on April 5, 2012. Emery, age 50, died peacefully from natural causes in her sleep.
Emery was a member of the NC State swim team from 1980-83. She was a five-time ACC Champion, winning the 100 and 200 freestyle in 1982, and sweeping the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events in 1983.
Emery was a multiple time All-American, garnering the honor every season from 1980-83. She still owns three all-time top-10 marks at NC State.
"I did not know her well, but had the privilege of dining with Beth when women's NCAA's was held at Ohio State a few years back," said head coach Braden Holloway. "Picking up on why she was so beloved, her energy for her friends, family, the sport and the Wolfack Nation was evident and strong."
Local arrangements will be entrusted to Schoedinger Worthington Chapel (614) 848-6699. To share memories of Beth, visit www.schoedinger.com.
Any notes wished to be heard will also be displayed at the swim offices in Weisiger-Brown, please email Holloway at braden_holloway@ncsu.edu, or send to:
