RALEIGH, N.C. – Coming off their successful performances at the Raleigh Relays last weekend at NC State’s Paul Derr Track, the Wolfpack men’s and women’s track and field teams will split into three different groups this weekend to chase even better marks.
A group of jumpers, including ACC indoor champion Kris Kornegay-Gober, will head to Gainesville, Fla., on Friday and Saturday at the Florida Relays. Kornegay-Gober, a two-time All-ACC outdoor performer in the high jump and the Field Most Valuable Performer at the ACC Indoor Championships closed in on his outdoor personal best when he hit a mark of 7-feet, 3-inches to win his event last weekend.
Senior Kwame Boatwright, who won the triple jump at last weekend’s Relays, will also head to Gainesville, along with Emmanuel Davis and women’s jumpers Danielle Adams, Lacey Shuman, Karimah Shepherd and Jazueline Daniels.
The Wolfpack will also send a large contingent to the Duke Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham.
Along with its sprinters and mid-distance runners, the Wolfpack will send its throwers to Durham, including sophomore Nathaniel Williams, who had the best throw of his career last weekend at 189-feet, 1-inch to win the discus throw. Other men’s throwers include junior Grant Pearce and redshirt freshman Jule Rich.
The Wolfpack women throwers who will compete in Durham include seniors Brittany Hampton and Lawanda Henry and redshirt freshman Tremanisha Taylor.
Junior Andie Cozzarelli, a second-team All-American in the 10,000 meters last year at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, is also entered in that event at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
