USTFCCCA Announces Regional Award Winners
RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State junior Ryan Hill of Hickory, N.C., has been named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Southeast Region Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, the USTFCCCA announced on Monday.
Hill, an indoor All-American last season in the 3,000 meters, posted the fastest time ever by an American in that event earlier this year. He ran a school- and ACC-record 7:43.08 at the Flotrack Husky Invitational in Seattle.
Hill also set the school record in the indoor mile at the Virginia Tech Elite meet in Blacksburg, Va., becoming the first Wolfpack runner to break the four-minute mile barrier with a time of 3:58.33.
Hill -- who owns school records in the indoor mile and 3,000 meters and the outdoor 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters -- has not lost a race this indoor season, winning the individual 3,000 meters at the ACC Championships and running the anchor leg for the winning distance medley relay team.
