RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State swimmer Jonathan Boffa has been named the ACC Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference office today. A sophomore from Verona Italy, Boffa has been enjoying a breakout season under first-year head coach Braden Holloway.
Boffa is the first Wolfpack swimmer to be named ACC Performer of the Week this season. He has helped lead NC State to a national ranking this season (No. 23), the first appearance for the Pack in the polls since the 2005-06 season. NC State is 9-2 (6-2 ACC) on the season.
In NC State's most recent meet against No. 15 Virginia, Boffa won all five events that he competed in- three individual events and two relays. Boffa's time in the 50 freestyle (20.23) was good for the sixth-best time in school history, while his mark in the 100 freestyle (44.09) was the fourth-best.
Boffa has hit NCAA B cuts in eight different events this year- the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle, the 200-, 400-, and 800-freestyle relays, and the 200- and 400-medley relays. He currently has the seventh-best time in the conference in the 50 freestyle, the fourth-best mark in the 100 freestyle, and the third-fastest time in the 200 freestyle.
