Swimming and Diving Travels To Virginia

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State swimming and diving will travel to Charlottesville, Va., to take on ACC rival Virginia on Saturday, Feb. 4. The meet, which will mark the end of the regular season for the Wolfpack, is set to begin at 11 a.m. at the Aquatic and Fitness Center.
The NC State men (9-1, 6-1 ACC) will return to action after a phenomenal weekend of conference action. The team topped Clemson at home on Senior Night on Friday, Jan. 27, and then upset No. 13 North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Saturday. With a win over Virginia, the Wolfpack men would clinch the ACC regular season championship for the first time in 20 years.
NC State has been making its mark in the conference this year, posting multiple top-10 times so far this season. As a team, the Wolfpack has combined to post NCAA B standards in four out of the five possible relay events.
Jonathan Boffa has been dominating the sprint freestyle events for the Pack this season. Boffa owns the eighth-best time in the conference in the 50 freestyle (20.32), the fourth-best mark in the 100 freestyle (44.12) and the third-best time in the 200 freestyle (1:36.92). His times in the 100 and 200 freestyle are both NCAA B standards.
Brian Via has the seventh-fastest time in the 1000 freestyle in the ACC (9:22.13), while Brandon Kingston has the 10th best mark in that event (9:23.03). Kingston has also posted the eighth-best time in the 1650 freestyle (15:32.37).
Ian Bishop owns the ninth-best time in the conference in the 100 breaststroke (56.44), while Maximus Litvinov has the seventh-fastest time in the 200 breaststroke (2:00.56). Litvinov set a new pool record with his time in NC State's meet against Clemson on Jan. 27.
Barrett Miesfeld has posted the top time in the ACC this season in the 100 butterfly (47.98), which is also an NCAA B cut.
In the diving events, Hudson Rains has the seventh-best mark in the conference on the three-meter board.
The NC State women (8-4, 3-4 ACC) resume competition after splitting the weekend with Clemson and UNC. The Wolfpack topped the Tigers on Friday, Jan. 27, but fell to the No. 16 Tarheels on Saturday.
As a team, the Wolfpack women have combined to post an NCAA B cut in the 400-freestyle relay (3:23.94), the fifth-best mark in the conference.
Hannah Freyman has the ninth-best time in both the 100 freestyle (50.08), and the 200 freestyle (1:49.26). Her time in the 100 is an NCAA B standard.
Hannah Hopkins owns the best mark in the conference on the one meter (336.98), and the fifth-best mark on the three meter board (336.98). Hopkins has also posted the fifth-best mark in the platform diving event (255.30).
The Cavalier men are currently ranked 15th nationally (4-3, 2-1 ACC), while the women (7-0, 3-0 ACC) are No. 11.
