RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State junior guard Marissa Kastanek and sophomore forward Kody Burke have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District women's basketball team.
NC State is one of only three schools, joining Tennessee and Florida Gulf Coast, to have two players from one program earn All-District honors at the Division I level.
Kastanek, from Lincoln, Neb., owns a 4.00 grade-point-average in psychology. This marks the second-straight year she has been named to the All-District list.
She leads the team in scoring at 13.3 points per game, and became the latest member of the 1,000-point club at NC State earlier this season. She has consistently ranked among the top three-point and free throw shooters in the ACC since her Freshman All-American season back in 2009-10.
Burke, from Northridge, Calif., has compiled a 3.95 GPA as a management major at State. She earned a spot on the ACC All-Academic Team as a freshman last year.
She currently ranks third on the club in scoring at 10.9 points per game, and second with 5.3 rebounds per game. Burke also sits near the ACC leaders in blocks once again in her sophomore campaign.
Both student-athletes are now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be released in late February.
The two were selected by a vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
