RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State men's swimming and diving program is currently ranked No. 23 in the nation, according to the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America poll, which can be found HERE.
This is the second appearance for the men in the CSCAA poll this season, as they were ranked No. 19 in the Nov. 9 poll. These two rankings are the first for the Wolfpack, who, prior to the 2011-12 season, hadn't made a splash in the national rankings since the 2005-06 season, when they finished the year at No. 21.
The Wolfpack swept ACC rivals Florida State and Georgia Tech last Saturday in Atlanta, Ga., and will take on Clemson this Friday, Jan. 27, at home. The meet will mark the final home competition for NC State this season, and will serve as Senior Day for the team.
The team owns a combined six NCAA B cuts to date. The 200-, 400-, and 800-freestyle relay teams have all hit the standard, and all three relays are currently ranked fourth in the ACC.
Individually, sophomore Jonathan Boffa leads the team with two NCAA B standards of his own. He currently holds the fourth-best time in the ACC in the 100 free (44.25), and the third-best in the 200 freestyle (1:36.92), both of which are NCAA B cuts. He has also turned in the eighth-best mark in the 50 freestyle (20.32).
Barrett Miesfeld has put up the fastest time in the ACC this season in the 100 butterfly, with his mark of 47.98, good for an NCAA B cut.
Brian Via holds the sixth-best time in the ACC in the 1000 freestyle at 9:22.13, while Brandon Kingston is ranked 10th with his time of 9:23.03. Kingston has also posted the eighth-best time in the 1650 freestyle (15:23.37).
Ian Bishop owns the 10th-best mark in the 100 breaststroke (56.47) in the conference, while Hudson Rains has posted the seventh-best three-meter diving 381.15 mark.
