RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State men's golfers Albin Choi and Mitchell Sutton have been listed among the 50 men's college players to watch in 2011-12 according to Golf World magazine.
The Canadian natives were each selected all-americans by both PING and Golfweek in 2010-11. The each won two tournaments last season in leading the Wolfpack into the NCAA Championship.
Choi, from Toronto, was unanimously selected ACC Freshman of the Year and to the All-ACC team. He was tabbed to the five-man All-Freshman team by both Golfweek and the Phil and Amy Mickelson Foundation.
Choi's 71.53 scoring average led the ACC and was the fourth lowest in school history, and second among all-time Wolfpack freshmen.
Sutton, from London, Ontario, ranked second on the team with a 71.89 scoring average, the seventh best in school annals. He was an All-ACC selection after recording the seventh-lowest scoring average in the league last year.
He shared medalist honors at the NCAA Florida Regional with a score of 10-under 206.
The Wolfpack is ranked just outside the Golf World/Nike Golf preseason Division I coaches' poll. The club received 62 votes, which equates to 26th in the poll.
NC State begins play this fall at the Falcon Invitational at Eisenhower Golf Course in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The Wolfpack Intercollegiate will take place Oct. 3 and 4 at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
